Alice Lousen is a dance artist trained in ballet, tap, modern, contemporary, hip-hop, jazz, and a little bit of everything else. Alice received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2022. While at UCSB, Alice discovered her love of movement creation and composition. Currently, Alice is living and working in LA, striving to create innovative and authentic work with various musical, environmental, and spatial influences. Her choreographic work is rooted in the experimental realm, aiming to release all preconceived notions about what dance is and create physical art in the form of moving bodies.
Sunscape is an experimental duet created as a celebration of summer and the Santa Barbara sun. Utilizing a Grateful Dead musical score, this piece explores how movement can both react to and be inspired by music. In addition, Sunscape studies the various ways two people in space can interact. Unique modern and pedestrian movements create this effortlessly carefree duality. After watching this piece, the audience should be left with a feeling of intrigue, joy, and contentment.
