Dance Studio Showtime – Katusha is a non-profit organization with Russian roots, committed to advancing dance education and preserving Russian cultural heritage by bringing performing arts, folk dance and music into different communities of the Greater Los Angeles area.
For twenty two years now, the Studio has been playing one of the major roles in the Los Angeles cultural scene, in the traditional performing arts world in particular, carrying on the appreciation of Russian folk dance and music.
Studio is an active participant in professional dance competitions, traditional art festivals, and the main contributor to multiple Russian-themed events in various communities.
The Studio regularly organizes performances and shows. One of the main contributions is its initiative to produce the Annual Cultural Festival “Russian Celebration” (since 2008) and the Annual Cultural Festival “Maslenitsa”9since 2019).
Dance Studio Showtime – Katusha’s students earned fame and acclaim by participating in countless festivals, fairs, competitions and public performances around Los Angeles County and outside of it. Katusha’s dancers became premier young performers of Russian folk dance in Southern California and, as such, has been invited to perform in different celebrated venues: at the Holiday Celebration at Dorothy Chandler Pavilion (as finalist performers); International Folk Dance Festival at Pierce College; at the City of West Hollywood Russian Culture Festival; at the San Pedro Arts Festival, to name a few.
Dressed in colorful ethnic costumes and demonstrating flawless choreography while presenting folk dance on stage, Katusha’s performers received numerous awards in prestigious dance competitions in the last years.
