At Irvine Valley College, dance is a space to communicate, create, perform, and
educate. Students learn to express themselves through movement, using the body as a tool for communication while also deepening their ability to view, analyze, and respond to dance and art. Creativity is fostered through opportunities to choreograph original works, collaborate with peers, and learn directly from leading dance artists. The program emphasizes both personal movement practices and collective artistry, giving students a chance to grow as individuals while contributing to a larger community. Performance is central, with students sharing their artistry on stage in IVC’s dance productions, as well as in the wider community and beyond. Education is equally vital, with courses that prepare students to teach dance and mind-body practices, equipping them with skills that translate into careers in health, fitness, and the dance industry. Together, these elements build a comprehensive, student-centered dance experience at Irvine Valley College.
