Jazz Spectrum Dance Company was founded in 1987 by Christine Baltes (1952-2018). JSDC’s mission is to promote, educate, and preserve the art of Jazz Dance through style, precision, and technique. Rooted in classical technique, Jazz Spectrum is also known for having a “sensuous side” and performing with “great clarity” & “abandon only the most accomplished can render” (LA Dance Chronicle). JSDC has held concerts throughout the United States and presented work at festivals including Jazz Dance World Congress, Jazz Dance LA, LA Dance Invitational, SoCal Dance Invitational, Rocky Mountain Choreography Festival, Newport Beach Film Festival, & Global Pushfest where the company premiered their first short film “Chameleon” which has since won multiple awards including Best Score, Best Sound, and Best Choreography. JSDC is proud to be a part of San Pedro’s TriArts Festival for the third year. Jazz Spectrum Dance Company is excited to present their jazz ballet, “Santana Suite” featuring the music of California-made artist, Carlos Santana.
