Katerina Tomás/ Mojácar Flamenco

Flamenco dancer and Artistic Director of Mojácar Flamenco, Katerina Tomás studied flamenco with the renowned Spanish Gypsy, Rosa Montoya. She taught flamenco at UC Irvine, UCLA, Orange Coast College, Cypress College, LACC, and teaches at Pointe by Pointe Dance Studio in Pasadena. She holds an M.A. in Dance from UCLA.

She received six grants from the Spanish Ministry of Culture for performance and choreography, and the L.A. Treasures Award for the flamenco concert “Cantan los Fuegos,” based on the poetry and music of Federico García Lorca and Manuel de Falla.

With flamenco guitarist Stephen Dick, she toured the U.S. and Canada, performed in Mojácar and Jerez, Spain, and was featured on Spanish television at the Sur Jerez Flamenco Competition in Jerez, Spain. Her company’s 2016/2017 project “Nana del Caballo Grande,” fuses flamenco, classical Spanish, and modern music and dance, and is included in the concert project, “Toque Jondo.”
