An international contemporary and commercial artist from California, Michael was the first African American to receive a full dance scholarship at the California Institute of the Arts, where he graduated with a BFA in Dance and minor in Math. In 2012, moved to Japan and worked for Tokyo Disney Sea in a stage production Mystic Rhythm. While in Japan he choreographed his first international piece IBUKI. In 2015, he rejoined with Lula Washington Dance Theater. In 2016, he set work on Cal State LA students and taught a class in Tel Aviv, Israel. Tomlin has been teaching dance within Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) since 2007. In 2016, he was appointed as Lula Washington’s Assistant. In 2018, endeavoring to pursue his choreographic passion, Tomlin started his dance company ReVrBT3. ReVrBT3 is a Los Angeles based dance company that reawakens the mind, senses and perception of art, spirituality, social and political events through quality movement.
