Pacífico Dance Company is California’s premiere Mexican‐American folklórico company, thrilling audiences with its unique and impressive repertoire that tests the boundaries of folk dance. Founded in 1992 under the direction of Adriana Astorga‐Gainey, the company has evolved into a dance company with its own unique style, costume designs, music and choreography. Since its founding, Pacífico Dance Company has performed for audiences nationwide and overseas. With more than 30 accomplished dancers and musicians, it prides itself on educating culturally diverse communities as well as providing Hispanic audiences with a forum for developing pride in their own heritage. These brilliant artists collaborate to present both traditional and innovative works that combine the essence oftraditional styles with modern dance idioms.
Pacífico Dance Company has the honor of being the first Mexican‐American folklórico company to tour Asia, performing in North Korea and China during the spring of 2001. The Los Angeles Times praised thecompany for being “attractive, disciplined, spirited and often stylish” and LA Weekly hailed its “engaging
theatrical elements and dynamic choreography.”
Over the past several years, Pacífico Dance Company has brought the magic and excitement of live performances to young audiences a variety of school districts throughout the region, sponsored in part by the Los Angeles County Department of Education.
