In Memory Of

Joe Caccavalla, Founder

January 19, 1938-June 19, 2012

Joe Caccavalla had a vision in 2007 to creative a festival dedicated to three art forms: dance, music, and visual arts (giving the festival it’s official name: the TriArt Festival, this year changed to San Pedro ♥ Festival of the Arts). It ranged from being housed at the Warner Grand, to the streets of downtown San Pedro, and finally, in 2011,  to Ports O’ Call where it flourished through 2016 and hosted an expanded music component to complement its mostly dance menu. Because of major reconstruction of the vibrant outdoor area, the festival moved in 2017 to Crafted at the Port of Los Angeles and downsized to single-day event. In 2018, the large parking lot opposite the Battleship IOWA hosted our usual giant stage for that year, allowing inclusion once more of arts vendors and food trucks. In 2019 the festival moved inland to Anderson Park, in conjunction with the LA Rec and Parks Community and Family Festival.

And this year, our 14th, in the midst of the Pandemic of 2020, the first Virtual San Pedro ♥ Festival of the Arts takes its vibrant dance to the Internet. We hope to honor Joe’s legacy by showcasing local artists on a wider scale via these online performances.
