Sahlala Dancers is one of the original international dance companies in California. Often imitated but never duplicated, they have been capturing the imagination of audiences since they were founded in 1999 by Jillina Carlano.
Now under the direction of Jill Collins, the company aims to set a standard of excellence through training, research and collaboration to create authentic productions that inspire and entertain. Their mission is to uphold the legacies of cultural dance and use their innovative creativity to carry these traditions into the future.
Sahlala Dancers has a mass appeal that captivates audiences alike. They’ve been featured in tv shows “Dancing with the Stars” and “Keeping Up with the Kardashians”, in theatrical productions with Bellydance Evolution, Circo Bello and The Bellydance Superstars, and at private events such as weddings,
birthdays, corporate events and pageants. They volunteer and offer educational outreach as well, performing in cultural festivals and in schools.
